ATMP’s unique liquid adhesive – a real banknote degradation system.
- An attack on an ATM or cash transit-case that is protected by our unique system results in an instant application of special formula adhesive that bonds the banknotes together.
- This results in the partial destruction of the each banknote using capillary action, and every note is damaged beyond use.
- The banknotes have to be torn apart to separate them, and torn notes are refused by the public and rejected by note-changing machines.
- Money that cannot be spent makes the crime worthless and the criminals look for a softer target.
Attack-proof and irreversible
- The damage is attack-proof. The activation takes less than a second and penetration is instant.
- The damage is irreversible. Application of solvents washes out the colour and makes the note stiff and brittle - to be refused by the public and rejected by note changing machines.
- Applying water (normally used to dilute dyes) speeds the adhesive drying process. The effectiveness of the bond is actually increased.
Safe and recoverable
- ATM Protection’s damaging system is safe. No pyrotechnic products are used. The adhesive is classed as an irritant, which means it is no more dangerous than products found in a domestic kitchen.
- The activation takes less than a second within a closed container using one-way valves. Contact with air dries the adhesives, ensuring the safety of authorized personnel dealing with the damaged ATM.
- Recovered banknotes are accepted by the Bank of England, subject to certain conditions. For the UK market, the controlled application results in penetration of approximately 20%. This enables the Bank of England to identify the notes as genuine, and subject to certain protocols genuine damaged notes will be replaced.
